In 2025, we’re marking 40 years of Freedom from Torture’s unrelenting work – offering expert therapy, helping survivors navigate the complex asylum process and fighting for a world where torture is confined to the history books.
Yet, repressive governments around the world still torture people who don’t conform – be it for a survivor’s political beliefs, their ethnicity, sexuality or religion.
There is still so much to do. Our services have never been needed more. We can receive up to 100 referrals a month, but right now we have no choice but to turn most people away. A gift today means we can reach more survivors, we can keep applying pressure to those in authority and, together, we can prove that until torture stops, neither will we.
