Portland Port's CEO: Say No to the Barge Plans

Fire risks, deadly bacteria and a mental health catastrophe: the government's failed barge experiment is a human rights disaster.

First it was revealed their accommodation barge was infected with potentially lethal Legionella bacteria. Now it is subject to a legal challenge from the Fire Brigade Union, who have condemned it as a "potential deathtrap".

No one - especially people who have survived torture and war - deserves to be exposed to these conditions.

Tell Portland Port's CEO Bill Reeves: end your support for this cruel, unnecessary and dangerous plan now.

Bill Reeves,

I am writing to ask you to end your support for this government’s failed asylum barge experiment.

Since the barge arrived in Portland Port, firefighters have condemned the plan as a “potential deathtrap” and the Fire Brigades Union has taken legal action. Then came the revelation that the barge was infected with incredibly dangerous Legionella bacteria.

Survivors say that they fear being "isolated" and "retraumatised" and our clinicians have warned that the barge is a "physical and mental health catastrophe".

I’m sure you agree that no one - especially people who have survived torture and war - deserves to be exposed to dangerous and cruel conditions. You still have a chance to do the right thing.

Do not allow Langham Industries to profit from this government’s cruel plan. Please stand with torture survivors and end your support for this government’s failed barge experiment.
